What We Offer

FOCUS maintains a "Pantry," which is stocked with specialty nipples/bottles, hand-made arm restraints, videos, information and other items.  Our Pantry items are those that have been donated to the group, and items that Keri has purchased to have available for families.  Specialty nipples included in the pantry are Haberman Cleft Palate Feeders, Mini-Haberman Feeders, Mead-Johnson Cleft Palate Nursers, Nuk vented nipples, Pigeon Cleft Palate Nursing Systems, Ross Cleft Palate Nipples and Gerber bottles.  Arm restraints are hand-sewn by Keri in small, medium, large and extra-large sizes in both boy and girl colors.  Restraints are mailed or delivered to families before surgery and returned to the group after use.  Restraints can be purchased, if desired, in the form of a donation to the FOCUS group.

Keri is often called by other professionals to offer assistance with feeding issues.  We will travel to meet with families individually to set up a feeding method that will allow newborns to feed successfully and promote consistent weight gain.  We also provide opportunities for families to network with other families.  We often will match up families that can provide support to each other as well.  Thank you to all of the families who have provided support to others!

The FOCUS group founder provides educational presentations across the state of Nebraska to professionals who are involved with children born with cleft lip and/or palate.  FOCUS is dedicated to helping other professionals help families and children in a caring and knowlegeable manner.   The FOCUS group is also a resource and support for hospital staff for the purpose of helping new families gain information and support.

Because our group is a non-profit organization, we rely solely on the generous donations of others.  There is no cost to belong to the group.  Thank you to so many who have found a tremendous benefit from the group and the services it provides, and your generous donations that reflect your gratefulness.  Although we are not a 501(c)3 status organization, your group will be sent a receipt for your donation, so you may choose to include it for tax purposes.
